Alexa Gilweit

Alexa Gilweit lives and works in Las Vegas, Nevada. Her formal education began at the Gerrit Reitveld Academy in Amsterdam, Netherlands in 2003. She transferred to Glasgow School of Art in Scotland where she received her BA-Hons in Painting and Printmaking in 2008. She has had solo shows in Los Angeles and the Bay Area. Her current body of work is focused on the swamp landscapes of Louisiana. Gilweit’s delicate charcoal drawings explore a primordial lost land. Echoing our own flux within nature and uncertainty of our future in it.
